We’re building a tool library in Central Oregon
The Central Oregon Tool Library is a community project making tools accessible to all. By borrowing instead of buying, we reduce waste and costs, foster skills, and build connections. Access to tools shouldn’t depend on income or ability; instead, we provide a shared resource for sustainable living.

About Us
Who We Are
Founded by John Heylin, Tony Grzesik, and Peter LoVerso, the Central Oregon Tool Library is a community-driven project working to make tools more accessible for everyone in our region. We believe that access to tools shouldn’t depend on income or ability—and that borrowing, rather than buying, helps us all live more sustainably.
What We’re Doing
As of September 5th, we are open to the general public! Tools can be reserved online or checked out in person if they are available. All you need is an email address, a signed waiver, and you’re good to go. Until we build a volunteer base, our hours will be Fridays from 4 pm-6 pm, Saturdays from 9 am-11 am, and Sundays from 3 pm-5 pm. Interested in helping? Sign up below!

Become a Member
Annual membership gives you access to any of the tools in our library! Reserve tools on-line or in-person, and pick them up for a weekly rental.
Our suggested minimum annual membership fee is $1 for every $1,000 in annual income.
$50,000 annual income = start at $50 annually and go up from there.
We encourage people who can afford more to pay more as a way of keeping tools accessible to all. Consider what you might spend on tool rentals or hiring contractors in determining the value of your annual membership.
We will never turn away a member for inability to pay.
Donate
The Central Oregon Tool Library is 100% volunteer-run, and every dollar goes directly toward operating costs and purchasing tools. Financial contributions are the biggest help at this stage, allowing us to build a strong foundation before we open our doors at the Habitat ReStore on 3rd Street in Bend. As we get closer to opening we will also start accepting a limited number of tool donations.
Your support helps create a more connected, sustainable, and empowered Central Oregon.
Volunteering
Our project is 100% volunteer run, and we’re looking for local folks to help with: photography, creative work, retail, etc. If this is you and you’d like to be a part of what we’re working on, please get in touch by sending an email to volunteer@cotool.org!
